There’s a lot of chaos happening right now…people are very stressed and anxious and I know many of us feel very unmoored.
All of this creates chaos in our bodies and, on a biological level, releases cortisol into our bloodstream.
I’ve talked a lot about cortisol with my clients and in my programs over the years and how it’s critical to get this hormone under control in your body because your health is greatly hindered when it’s out of whack. Known as the ‘aging hormone’ it shuts down digestion, propels anxiety, sleep disorders, hormonal imbalances, fertility problems and much more.
So, what do we do? Here is a list of things you can do right now:
First, for me, I really believe in the law of attraction. The other day I was listening to a podcast where a physicist was asked a question about what we do now. His reply was simple: find joy in your life. Because when you feel joy, it WILL spread. It will reverberate out and effect everything.
Life is an echo. What you send out comes back. What you sow, you reap. What you give, you get. What you see in others exists in you. Remember, life is an echo, it always gets back to you. So give goodness.
To calm your body (you CAN trick your body into this state even within the chaos), here’s some things you can do:
1. Meditation. Even 1 min can work wonders. See the very cool 1-min meditation in the link below.
2. Deep breathing. I do this every single day many times a day. Focus on my breath. Breathe in for 5 counts, hold for 2, breathe out for 5 counts, hold for 2. Do this cycle 5-10 times and you will feel a profound difference in your body.
3. Acupuncture. Works wonders for getting cortisol under control and will help with myriad ailments. Get your qi moving!
4. Massage. ’nuff said. 🙂
5. Get into nature. Physical settings play a role in stress reduction, and being in nature is a well-documented way to promote relaxation.
